ABSTRACT
This study investigated the application of self-regulated learning strategies among Indonesian students in distance learning environment. The research combined quantitative survey data from 236 students across several Indonesian universities with qualitative insights from semi-structured interviews with nine participants. The Online Self-Regulated Learning Questionnaire, which was adapted, translated to Indonesian, and evaluated through pilot testing, served as the primary instrument for data collection in quantitative phase. Meanwhile, the qualitative aspect relied on individual semi-structured interview as the data collection method. Descriptive statistics revealed a predominant use of environmental structuring strategies, leaving the help-seeking strategies as the least frequently practiced. These finding was supported and illuminated by the findings from the thematic analysis of the qualitative data, highlighting the nuanced application of self-regulated learning strategies in students' daily distance learning routines. The study points out the perceived critical role of self-regulated learning in enhancing the efficacy of distance learning and suggests educational interventions to support effective practices of distance education. The implications for practice are discussed, emphasizing the need for adaptive learning strategies that accommodate the dynamic nature of distance education.
